I-Octane song banned

November 13, 2011

Dancehall Reggae superstar, I-Octane, has sparked controversy with the release of his latest single ‘Informer Ah Work’ also called ‘Cash Fi Chat’.

A popular radio station has already banned the single from its airwaves indefinitely.

According to the song's producers, Armzhouse Records, the single was not aimed to promote any form of violence; keeping the rules and guidelines of the Broadcasting Commission in mind.

The single, released earlier this month, calls out persons who take money in exchange for spreading rumors.

Despite its removal from that stations airwaves, the song's already being hailed as one of I-Octane's biggest songs for 2011 and a video for the single will soon be unveiled. source rjr

Alley Cat promotes latest album

November 13, 2011

Dancehall deejay, Alley Cat, aka Imperial, is currently making the rounds as he vigorously promotes his latest album,Dancehall Knowledge Volume 2.
Quite excited about his latest project, Alley Cat, who changed his moniker to Imperial some years ago, has been studying various aspects of the music business in an effort to become more rounded. Having been on the music scene since 1996, Alley Cat has travelled the world with major dancehall acts including Beenie Man and the Shocking Vibes Crew. The deejay has seen and has done many things and is now at a point in his career where he feels comfortable managing his own affairs.
“I took a leave of absence from the road for a while and have gone to school to study studio engineering and also learned to play the guitar. I gained a lot of hands-on experience just by being an artiste and working with some of the best producers, engineers and promoters in the music business,” explained the deejay who was christened Albert Richards. He noted that Dancehall Knowledge Volume I signaled his intention to be a triple threat – artiste, song-writer and producer – and with this latest offering, he feels he has definitely come into his own.
“I am not blowing my own trumpet, but the album is an interesting mix of clean, positive songs. I have stayed true to form and have delivered a product that I am confident the buying public will like,” Alley Cat aka Imperial said.
Dancehall Knowledge Volume II features collaboration with the Monster Hemphigher as well as Ikaya, whose vocals can be heard song, Virtuous Woman, which is one of the singles being promoted and getting a lot of attention from music lovers.
In addition to the album, he has a slew of singles making noise on the scene, including Party Spree, Finally, Bruk Out feat. Stone and Miss Independent.
Alley Cat, aka Imperial, says his guiding principles in the business are excellence and commitment. Currently, he travels between Florida and Jamaica and is enjoying full international recognition, especially in the US, where radio is showing him much love.
Between his own tracks and the work being done for other artistes, Alley Cat has more than good reason to be optimistic. He’s getting great response from the material that’s out now, but has no intention of succumbing to complacency.
Dancehall Knowledge Volume II was released in October and is distributed in the US by Island Entertainment. It is available on all major digital download stores including Amazon, iTunes and Rhapsody.

TOYA IS THE FACE OF SENSUALITY IN SCANDINAVIA

November 13, 2011

Downsound Records' sultry siren Toya will be making her European television debut on Monday, November 28th, with a special guest appearance on Norway's TVNorge. The striking 22-year-old diva -whose single "One Man Woman" with Dancehall king Beenie Man has topped the charts in Jamaica - will make a special appearance on the new reality series Cruisliv, during an episode about Jamaican women and sexuality. Cruisliv will be broadcast to more than 25 million Scandinavian homes.
on November 23rd, Toya will be featured on an episode that focuses on the sensuality of young Jamaican women.

With her racy single “One Man Woman,” featuring Dancehall king Beenie Man bubbling in the top ten on the local charts, and her latest club-banger “You A Life” in heavy radio rotation, the bold and sassy 23 year old was a natural choice for the Cruiseliv episode about sexuality and Jamaican women.

“I am a young, fresh face, and my style and the way I carry myself is naturally sexy,” says LaToya ‘Toya’ Jackson. “Recently, I’ve been attracting international attention, filming in the United States, and now doing a television show for Norway about Jamaica and Jamaican women. It’s very exciting.”

Toya first earned recognition on Jamaica’s vibrant party scene for her brash, jaw-dropping, and unpredictable sense of fashion at popular events like ‘Wet Wet,’ ‘Black & White’ and the ‘Miami Link-Up’ parties. After meeting Downsound Records CEO Josef Bogdanovich, she tried her hand at music, releasing the pop-Dancehall single “Too Sexy” in 2007. The well-received single “Hot Like a Fire,” in 2009, followed by the chart-topping “Boss Lady” cemented her place among the island’s top-rated artists, earning Toya performance spots on Jamaica’s world-famous Reggae Sumfest, and “greatest one night Reggae show on Earth” Sting.

"Toya is a one of a kind trend setter,” says Bogdanovich. “The world is at her finger tips - all she’s gotta do is grab it and squeeze.”

Toya’s Cruiseliv episode will premiere on TVNorge in Norway and neighboring Scandinavian countries on Wednesday, November 23rd at 8:30pm. The episode will be available online, date and time to be announced. For more information on Toya,
