Tracii McGregor, a member of Buju’s management is saying that fans can expect a new album from the embattled deejay as soon as next summer.
McGregor revealed that most of the tracks on the currently untitled album were recorded while he was out on bail in 2011. “Buju is very involved in the process, of course. He is just as focused and detail oriented as he ever was…. Among the producers who worked on the set are Blacker Dread (who produced the song Innocent from Banton’s last studio album), Stephen Marley and Banton himself.
Buju’s last album Before The Dawn, was released in 2010, the same year Banton was arrested by Federal agents in Florida for attempting to sell cocaine.
Before The Dawn won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2011.
The pending album will be his 11th studio effort, after several groundbreaking and legendary efforts such as; Too Bad, Mr Mention, Inna Heights, Til Shiloh, Friends For Life and Unchained Spirit.
Released in 1995, Til Shiloh has been described as the jewel in the Buju Banton crown.
Shiloh marked his conversion to Rastafari and included mega hits like Untold Stories, Not An Easy Road and Til I’m Laid to Rest.
